What was the highlight of The Orchids

Great hotel in the historic district of Bogota.

I highly recommend staying here while visiting Bogotá. The hotel is in the historic La Candelaria neighborhood, which has a lot of the museums and sites that people want to see in Columbia. If you book it, it comes with a complementary breakfast that is prepared fresh daily, and made to order. Delicious! Richard was fantastic (and bilingual in English) at helping us navigate the city and answering any questions we had. The hotel itself is beautiful, a little older, but still has all the comforts you want in a hotel. Because it is an older hotel, too, the rooms are extremely spacious.

Great Stay

Great location in the centre of La Candelaria, close to the museums and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff as well as a lovely breakfast. Would very much recommend if you are stating in Bogota. We used the airport transfer through the hotel which was very reasonable.

Superb hotel and amazing staff, but very noisy

Superb hotel in a very old building. The rooms are uniquely decorated and super comfy. A special note to acknowledge the staff, and especially Francisco who was amazing all throughout our stay. He vas very helpful, friendly and genuine, we loved having chats with him everyday. He made us feel at home.

The building being very old there is no noice insulation at all. All rooms’ old wooden doors and windows are facing the atrium which means you can hear everything even with all doors closed. If someone comes in an out lf the hotel, if the staff at reception talks on the phone, if someone’s talking in the hallways, it’s like they were in your room. For that reason we felt this would qualify for a four star and not five star hotel. While the hotel itself is really great and staff amazing, we had very poor sleep every night because of the constant noise.

Would highly recommend orchids for a stay in bogota

Francisco was great - very helpful with giving us directions, holding baggage. It was a pleasure to interact with him as he made us feel very welcome. Rooms were decorated in a baroque manner and were super spacious and beautiful.

Breakfast was decent - the omelette I had was ok; my husband ordered mango juice and it had a weird burnt flavor. The shaggy carpets in the bedrooms should be changed as they cannot be cleaned properly between guests.

Luxurious, peaceful, wonderful

Attention to detail. In advance of our arrival all arrangements were made, airport pick up, tour guides, laundry etc in a very efficient manner. Staff were without doubt the best we have ever met!

It was very quaint and the staff was exceptional

We moved to a smaller room on our 4th night due to availability. It was nice but I missed the exterior window to the street. Guest came very late and were loud waking me up. Not the hotels fault. I just really like the suit better and who wouldn’t?

Not worth the money.... looks good but not comfortable.

The location was great for walking around. You are in the old part of town and that was wonderful. The staff was great... very helpful. The building is an old colonial house and they have done a good of making it a nice looking place.

The problem is that you are in the middle of town... Very noisy from our room that faced the street and the beds..... Like sleeping on a hard plank. They should change those bed immediately. They were nice enough to let us change rooms due to the street noise but the beds were the same in both rooms.... My son was excited to take a bath in the beautiful modern bath tub. He started to fill it out and the water was YELLOW. We called up the very nice young man at the front desk who told us that it was and old house and they could not change the pipes when they remodeled.... WHAT? You have new electricity but not new pipes... Rust from the pipes were coming into the tub. The water from the shower was fine... get rid of the tub if you can't have clean water in the bath! Would not stay there again.

Service with a smile. Lovely old hotel with great staff and fab breakfast in good location.

Bed very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Bathroom could have been better. The shower and toilet were separate as was the wash hand basin

Stunning boutique hotel with incredible staff!

This hotel is absolutely stunning! If you’re looking for a boutique hotel with breathtaking interiors, this is it! The staff was incredible- they went our of their way of accommodate every request. Breakfast was also great- an extensive menus offering everything from freshly squeezed juices, eggs, oatmeal, fruit, cereal etc.

Only two negatives: a bit noisy so bring ear plugs and the location is great if you want to be close to major sites, but feels a bit off at night. For the price however, it’s incredible!
